BULGARIA - OUR COUTRY The population is mainly Bulgarian. The Bulgarian nation is a very old one and many peoples nowadays in Europe and Asia have come from it. During the seventh cantury some of them established on the Balkan peninsula and then Bulgaria was founded. By the end of the tenth century the country was governed by cham, czar and nobles who were proto-Bulgarians. Firstly there was a big Slav population on this soil and when the Bulgarians settled there, they were on good terms with them. When Christianity was adopted in tenth century the proto-Bulgarians and the Slavs set up a homogeneous nation with predominant Slav element and that was the reason Slavic language to be established. The native language was the Bulgarian which by the reason above was the Slav. The script that was used is the Cyrillic alphabet. Bulgaria has a special characteristic that it is the first Slav country. In ninth century in the czar Boris I reign, on this new converted to Christianity country, St. Kiril and Metodi found a new script - the Cyrillic alphabet which is used today for writing in Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia,Yugoslavia and on other parts in Europe and Asia. The country has a moderate climate with four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Natural wealth in Bulgaria makes it possible to develop summer and winter tourism. There are many modern resorts by the Black Sea coast and in the mountains in the inner parts of the country, the village tourism is developed. Millions of tourists from Europe and other parts in the world are visiting Bulgaria every year. Some interesting information for the economy of the country is necessary for those who want to enter the Bulgarian market. Bulgaria is a large tobacco-grower. Other well-developed industries are: Pharmacological industry, Parfumery, Textile and Shoe industries, Agronomy - production of cereal and technical crops, grain of high quality and planting material, animals and animal products, machine-building, arms and defensive industries, shipbuilding.
