Luchezar Georgiev and his MIDI Filer Project

Welcome!

Hello! Nice to meet you at my homepage! My name is Luchezar Georgiev and I am an electronics / computer engineer. I teach computer science at the Technical University of Varna, Bulgaria. I enjoy making music and hiking mountains. I’m married; my beloved wife Galya is an informatics expert and a very good singer. We have a lovely daughter Sylvia; she sings as good as her mother and… already plays the violin!

My current project is a MIDI Filer unit called MFP-03. This is a small device for playback, recording, and editing Standard MIDI Files. Of course it can do many more things! I’ve been working on this unit since 1995, and have invested much time in its hardware and software development. There are three working prototypes, extensively used by their owners for 4 - 5 years now. I have designed, built, and got up and running a new hardware suitable for production in series.

Any Brave Volunteer Manufacturers?

Magitec Ltd. from the UK presented the prototype of the unit at the Music Live ’99 show in Birmingham (19-21.11.1999) and at the Musikmesse 2000 show in Frankfurt (12-16.04.2000). They wanted to manufacture and sell the unit under their brand, but unfortunately went bankrupt before that, as a victim of the too liberal enviroment of today’s West, where the big sharks unite and eat the small fishes!

So, I now call for other brave volunteer manufacturers from all over the world! I’ve already published the complete hardware documentation, which is free and yours to sink your teeth into! All I want from you is sign a contract to pay royalties for the firmware. For details please e-mail me. (NOTE: Since July 2001 this call is not actual anymore.)
